A Slack contact button gives visitors, clients, members, or community users a quick way to reach your team from your website.
It works best when your audience already uses Slack or has access to your workspace. For example, it can be useful for client portals, communities, agency websites, partner portals, and member-based websites.
For public website visitors, Slack alone may not be enough. Not every visitor will have access to your workspace. So it is better to pair the Slack button with FAQ, Knowledge Base, WhatsApp, Messenger, or other contact channels.
To add a Slack contact button to your website:
Slack is already a common tool for team communication. According to DemandSage, Slack is estimated to reach 47.2 million daily active users in 2026.
That means many teams, agencies, SaaS companies, and online communities already manage conversations inside Slack.
A Slack contact button can connect your website with that existing workflow. Visitors do not need to search for a contact page, email address, or support form. They can click the button and open the right Slack space. Here are the main reasons to add a Slack contact button to your website:
A business can add a Slack button so clients, members, or visitors can reach the team from the website. When someone clicks the button, they are taken to Slack. From there, the right teammate can respond based on the topic or channel.
A company can use a Slack widget to guide inquiries to a specific Slack channel. Team members can manage each query through channels and threads instead of checking scattered emails, forms, or separate tools.
A sales or support team uses the Slack button to respond faster to interested visitors. Faster replies can help the team answer questions, qualify leads, and continue the conversation while the visitor is still interested.
For this tutorial, I am using Bit Assist. It lets you add a floating chat widget to your WordPress website without custom code. Also, I am adding extra support channels (FAQ, Knowledgebase), so visitors can still find answers even when Slack is unavailable.
Before you add Slack, check who will use the button. Slack is best for visitors who already have access to your workspace, such as clients, members, partners, or community users.
For general website visitors, add FAQ, Knowledge Base, WhatsApp, Messenger, or another public contact channel besides Slack.
Here’s the step-by-step guide for how to add Slack contact button to your website:
From your WordPress dashboard, go to: Plugins > Add Plugin > Search Plugins. Type “Bit Assist”. Install and activate the plugin.

After activating the plugin, open the Bit Assist dashboard. Click Add Widget. This will create a new floating contact widget for your website.

On the widget screen, click Add Channel. You will see the available channels that you can add to your widget.

Now, select the “Slack” channel.

Click on “Edit Channel”. Add your “Workspace unique_id”.
If you do not know your Slack workspace’s unique ID, follow the instructions shown inside Bit Assist.

Now, go to your website and check the widget. Click on it. You will be redirected to “Slack”. If you have access to the workspace, you will see the Slack interface and the selected channel, like the #all-abcd channel shown in the screenshot.

You can test by sending your message to the channel.

Slack is useful, but not every visitor will use it. Some visitors may only need a quick answer. For that reason, you can add FAQ and Knowledge Base channels besides Slack. These channels give visitors a way to find answers without contacting your team.
Now, I am adding the FAQ channel to the website. The FAQ channel helps users quickly find answers to the most common queries.

After clicking on the channel, you need to add the frequently asked questions by customers. Then also add the answer to their questions.

Go to the website. Check how the FAQ button looks.

Now, I am also adding the knowledge base channel. This channel will help visitors learn about the brand when other customer support channels are unavailable. It’s a self-service resource where users can find detailed information related to a product, service, or company and solve problems independently.

After clicking on the channel, you can add the questions and answers you want customers to read.

Now, check the website to see how the Knowledgebase button looks.

Go to Customization. From there, you can change the widget name, color, icon, shape, and position.

And if you want, you can add custom CSS to match your unique requirements for your website.

Next, you can set conditions to trigger the widget using delay and page scroll. You can also enable these options:
You can also add “Call-to-Action” text to guide users on what to do next.

Bit Assist Pro lets you use the same widget on another domain, subdomain, or non-WordPress website through External Publish.
To do this, select External Site from the widget’s Use Widget In option. Then open the widget, go to the External Publish tab, add the domain where you want to show the widget, and copy the generated script. Paste that script before the closing tag on your website.

You can use it on platforms like another WordPress site, Drupal, Joomla, Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, Weebly, Zoho Sites, HTML websites, and other custom sites. Google Sites is not supported.
Now, you can check how the widget button looks on the website.
